just a thought...

Tomorrow morning I am having steroid injections to help calm my sciatic nerve (it feels more like nerveS, at times... maybe it is?).
I just talked with the surgical nurse. She says I will have a twilight-type anesthesia. Who is she kidding? I will be out for most of the day. Well, I will wake up and pee for them... and take a drink.
Hubby isn't sure he will be in any shape to go with me. He is not at his best early in the morning.  Chris says he can drop me off on his way to work and then pick me up and take me home after.
So I will leave you with this thought to get us all through the next few days... LOL

Well, the LETTER may come to life again.  I have convinced myself that I have been busy. Actually, I have too much time on my hands.  So I now think that, on occasion, I just might stretch my fingers on this ol' keyboard again and tell you what is going on in my life.

HOWEVER, it is baseball season and I do plant myself in front of the TV to watch my favorite teams: SF Giants, Oakland A's, and Boston Red Sox.  Sometimes there is a Yankee game thrown in there for good measure. I have accomplished a lot of crocheting projects while watching these games.  Pictures will posted on an upcoming blog.

[Oh boy, I am thinking of more and more things I can write about - I better find my old notebook :D]

To catch you all up on what is happening... Hubby is still in remission from his cancer. He just celebrated the 4th anniversary of his stem cell transplant.  I see him finding more energy and stamina. This year he actually planted a garden for us. We can't wait to see more growth and vegetables on our table.

My oldest son still lives with us. He works for National Security as an account manager (in 3 years he has gone from being a "plain old" guard to being in charge of security at the Sacramento Convention Center to being an account manager).  The downside is his company phone rings at lot - at all times of the day and night.

As I mentioned, I have been crocheting. My sciatica has decided to become a permanent pain in the arse, so I will have some cortisone injections on June 27th.  I'm a bit nervous about that.

The dog is still crazy.  She seems to enjoy being a mouser. I have tried explaining that title is usually reserved for cats -- she has NO concept.  If it runs, she chases.

Thanks for stopping by... I'll be back :D

Just a little FYI for Monday

"HOUSTON, WE HAVE LIFT-OFF"!!!!!!

Do y'all remember the rantings of a maniac mother a few weeks back? Yup, that one. The mother who threw the four inch telephone book at her 38-year-old son and said: have a job by the end of July... OR ELSE.

Well... the miracle has happened. This is Christopher (a.k.a. Son #1) -- doesn't he look like a Marine (in his own mind, he still is). He now has employment AND is working -- 2 shifts this weekend. He wears a uniform, too.

Anyway, he took the phone book, looked up Security Guard companies. Called. Sent resumes. And went 'visiting'. Now, in California, to become a security guard, you have to have a guard card. This involves taking an 8-hour class and getting some sort of scan and then waiting for your name and number to magically appear on some website. Last Tuesday the magic happened and on Wednesday Chris was employed by National Security Services/Industry. This is one of the places he visited after my short fuse exploded. Chris and the guy running the office hit it off really well. He told Chris everything he had to do to get THE CARD. Then said, if you get the card, you've got a job here.

On Friday, Chris picked up his uniforms. On Saturday, he worked a Sweet Sixteen party at one of the Sacramento Community Centers from 1:30 p.m. until 12:30 a.m. Last night he was called in to cover the grave yard shift in the parking garage in Old Town Sacramento. Apparently this security company contracts with the city. Tomorrow Chris reports to his regular post. After training this will be from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Sacramento Convention Center.

It does a mother's heart good to see her son drag in at 9 a.m. Exhausted from the night's work --- YAHOOOOOOOOOOO!!! I am happy that he will be earning a living again. I am happy that he is doing something he loves to do. And I am really, really overjoyed that he will be associating with people other than his old mom and step-dad.

If I weren't his mother, I wouldn't mess with him... would you?

Thanks for stopping by... have a great Monday

An Edit & Some Ramblings

After much deliberation, I have deleted a great portion of Monday’s posting. Believing that sometimes too much information is just that … too much information. The remaining portion satisfactorily covers the topic of where I have traveled. Writing the stories associated with certain states was an exercise I needed to do for myself – and I didn’t need to subject you to my wordiness. At some point in time, I may throw in a ‘state’ story or two. But for now, that project is finished.

Which brings me to general ramblings of my yesterday (Monday).

I still wonder how I can remember some of those travel stories and NOT remember to buy cereal when I got groceries last night – it was right there at the top of my list. Good thing Richard still has some Frosted Mini-Wheats left.

The word at the top of this list may look like "corn," but on my list it was most definitely cereal.

It has been HOT here… 106*, 108*, 102* for the last three days. Today it should be down to 98*. Anyway, our pantry was looking a bit too slim; so Son #1 and I headed for our new Super WalMart last night – it opened on June 17th.
I figured that MOST people would have gone there and gone home already.
I really expected (HOPED) it would look like the picture.
I was so very NOT right.
We got there about 9:15 -- along with everyone else on our side of town.
So much for that idea.
The place was a ZOO (some people really do belong in cages).
I like quiet WalMart shopping. So I usually go about 7 or 7 :30 in the morning.

To ward off boredom during this heat wave, I have been knitting and crocheting. The other day, I spied a sweater that I had started for granddaughter Rebecca. So I finished that. Her brother, Jon, has requested a new hoodie. And suddenly, there are a several young pregnant gals in my acquaintance circle. What better way to get rid of some of the yarn that has been hanging out in my craft room for a much too long time.
It's another hot one today. Son #1 got up early and made a tuna/macaroni salad and now has chili cooking in the crock pot. And I am off to the "knitting corner."

Have a great Tuesday and thanks for stopping by...
